Week 3
I'm really loving my Beyond Layers class, it makes me prepare, think, create.
For this week we were to capture one day of our lives and create a story board with 6 pictures. This was hard for me; I felt I needed 100 pictures to capture my day. At first I felt I was stomped but then simplicity came to the rescue. The idea was to make a time capsule and have this pictures remind us of that one day.
I captured my little ones enjoying a dandelion. Something so simple yet these are the moments I want to remember.

Week 2
For this week Kim asked us to describe ourselves in six words. Sounds easy but it was very challenging.
This is me in six words:
Hurt. Lost. Found by God. Redeemed.
Here is where the idea originated. Check out Smith Magazine http://www.smithmag.net/ for inspiration. Some are funny, some are sad and some are inspiring.
This weeks challenge: Think of one single word, mood or thought... and then set out to create a photo around your theme.
And this is what I came up with.
by the way the class is called Beyond Layers. Here is more info about it http://www.beyondlayers.net/

week 1
I have so much to share about photography. I'm a person who loves to express herself with art. I loved painting. Growing up I did some oil on canvas and watercolor. I was never diligent enough to stick with it and practice - but the passion and the love was always there. Then just four years ago I got my DLSR as a gift on my anniversary and that passion was revived again, this time I was not alone though, I have my husband with me. He gave me the camera and his encouragement and with his amazing gift of diligence is helping me achieve my dreams as an artist.
When we started this photography journey, we did it because of the love I have for creating memories. I love watching pictures and re-living those moments again. I love stories and people and how they grow and change. I'm passionate about it. It has only been one year - one amazing year!
I'm taking a class called Beyond Layers and I'm very happy because it's helping me bring my passion to life.
here are the assingments so far...
week 1 - Simplicity. Solid backgounds, no distractions, less is more.
This winter hasn't been a winter at all. It's in the 60s and then it snows. That week my mother-in-law shared with us a coconut! I fell in love with the texture of the coconut and contrast between the white and brown and figured "snow!, coconut!, picture!" and here it is. Less is more, simple but definitely not boring :)

I had so much fun taking pictures of this sweet family. They made it so easy and they were up for all kinds of ideas. they had picture-perfect smiles and they looked amazing, even the dog was ready for it. What else can a photographer ask for.
This SHOWROOM is a wonderful way to show my clients how a set of prints can be an amazing way of enhancing the feel of any room.

Still behind on posting the rest of 2011 photo shoots...
This post is very special to me because I got to photograph my sister and her children. You see I only get to see them about once a year as they live in France.
What was really awesome about this photo shoot is that Bruno (the handsome little guy) took his first steps as I was chasing him around with the camera. Also out of the many props we took to the shoot Julia, my niece, chose our dog Chocolate (don't ask why we named him that:).

I injured my wrist back in September bad enough that I could not hold my camera for a whole month, and surprisingly it took me even longer to get back on the computer to use Photoshop because using the mouse for small periods of time was very painful. It was such a downer for me :(. I kind of see life through my camera and it was bad enough that I couldn't do any photo shoots but it was even worse that I could not take pictures of my girls and my family.
I had the hardest time understanding that I had to give my wrist a rest so that I would be able to hold my camera again sooner rather than later.
So here I am. Back at it! Very grateful to God and I am loving it.
I could go on and on about all the things I would like to share about this family because they are so dear to me. But I think all you need to know is that their friendship is a treasure to be kept. Here is their family. I photographed their second baby, it was our very first photo shoot! check out the link (http://bellaniart.blogspot.com/2010/08/blog-post_4407.html) and now we present to you their newest addition to the family. Baby Nathan.
Congratulations mom and dad and thank you for your patience on the editing.
